Koppa belongs to Chikkamagaluru Dist. and Sringeri Legislative Constituency. Koppa is of about 100 kms from the district place and 30 kms from Sringeri the holy place of Sri. Sharada math, is of about 30 kms from Agumbe the heavy rain fall area in the state and is about 9 kms from Kavishyla the birth place of the great poet Sri.Kuvempu. Koppa is hill area and is comes under nexal hit-area, accommodated mainly by labour families working in Tea and Coffee Estates available in the taluk.

Govt. ITI, Koppa is established in the year 2008. At the starting, it was running in the rented building by catering the training in ELECTRICIAN, ELECTRONICS MECHANIC and MECHANIC (MOTOR VEHICLE) trades to make the youths belongs to poor families to be employable.

Since September-2012, Mid-day meals started in the ITI with the help of Sri Sharada Math, Sringeri to make the trainees to be strong enough to get the more practical training, which helps the trainees belongs to poor families.

In the year 2020, the own building has been constructed with all facilities in its 2.5 acres of land and now it is Located at Ammadi-Gunavanthe Road, Koppa, Koppa Taluk, Chikkamagaluru District. It is served with experienced faculties for providing the training in various trades. ITI is Affiliated to NCVT, New-Delhi since 2018. It is recognized under UDYOGA project with 6 new long term trades and is Affiliated to NCVT, New-Delhi in the year 2021.

Now the ITI is Catering training in ELECTRICIAN, ELECTRONICS MECHANIC and MECHANIC (MOTOR VEHICLE) trades Under CTS and MECHANIC ELECTRIC VEHICLE trade under Udyoga Scheme. All are 2 year long term trades. Most of the trainees of this ITI are placed in various industries, most of them are self employed and some of them are undergone higher education.
